Hi, my name is Mr H and I'm a British Expat living in Cape Town, South Africa.

 

After leaving school with pretty much no qualifications I embarked on a successful career spanning over 25 years. I started as a Chain Man at 16 years old fetching and carrying for a civil engineer and ended as a Corporate Vice President at Of Operations for a Global Contact Centre organisation at 43.

 

I'd done OK, but after a fairly major health scare gave me a wake-up call, I decided there had to be more to life than climbing the corporate ladder until 65 and then hoping you live long enough to reap the benefits of all that hard work. So with the support & encouragement of my wife of less than 1 year I walked away from my corporate job with my life savings and an enthusiastic approach to living a better quality of life. This blog is the financial story of that journey and how I intend to make my life savings from 27 years of working last hopefully another 50 years supported by a few side hustles, some savvy investing and hopefully a little luck.
